PrestaShop is Europe's most widely deployed open-source e-commerce platform, powering 250,000+ active online stores across 60+ languages. Founded in 2007 in Paris by Igor Schlumberger and Bruno Leveque, it is built on PHP/Symfony and offers a fully customizable storefront with extensive product, order, and customer management. The PrestaShop Addons Marketplace hosts 4,000+ themes and modules. Features include SEO tools, multi-currency and multi-language support, tax automation, GDPR compliance tools, and an open API. PrestaShop 9, the latest version, runs on Symfony 6.4 with the mobile-first Hummingbird theme and a new Admin API for headless integrations. The platform primarily serves SMBs but scales to enterprise via a dedicated Enterprise edition. In December 2025, Cyber_Pixel (79% owned by Polish WSE-listed cyber_Folks) agreed to acquire 100% of PrestaShop for approximately EUR 53.7 million. This transaction also brought Sylius (Polish open-source headless e-commerce) into the same group. The combined ecosystem spans roughly 240,000 stores and EUR 35 billion in annual GMV. PrestaShop employs around 200 people with a developer community of 600,000+ worldwide.
