Lexware Office (formerly Lexoffice) is Germany's most widely used cloud accounting software for small businesses and freelancers, with over 350,000 customers. It is developed by Haufe-Lexware, a subsidiary of Haufe Group, a family-owned German enterprise based in Freiburg im Breisgau. The Lexware brand was established in 1989, and the cloud version launched around 2012. The product handles invoicing, bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, expense management, and payroll. It complies with German tax requirements (GoBD) and integrates with ELSTER for VAT filings and with DATEV for data exchange with tax advisors. Lexware Office supports e-invoicing in XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats, required for German B2B transactions since 2025. Receipt scanning uses OCR with an auto-recognition rate of 80 to 90 percent. Pricing starts at β¬6.90 per month for a basic bookkeeping plan, with the full suite including payroll at around β¬32.90 per month. All plans include unlimited users. The interface is available only in German, and the product is tailored to German tax and legal requirements.
