Product overview
CryptPad is an end-to-end encrypted collaboration suite developed by XWiki SAS in Paris. It provides a zero-knowledge architecture where the server never sees the content of documents, making it one of the few collaboration tools where the hosting provider cannot access user data. The product includes editors for rich text, spreadsheets, presentations, code, kanban boards, whiteboards, and forms. CryptPad has around 200,000 monthly users on its flagship instance (CryptPad.fr) and has been used by organizations including the United Nations. The project started in 2014 with funding from BPI France and NLnet, and is open source under the AGPL license. All hosted instances run on OVHcloud infrastructure in France, keeping data entirely within EU jurisdiction and outside the reach of the US Cloud Act. Individual plans on CryptPad.fr start at 5 euros per month with a free tier offering 1 GB of storage. Enterprise managed instances range from 3,000 to 25,000 euros per year, with 50% discounts for education and nonprofits.
