Product overview
Threema Work is the business edition of the Swiss messenger Threema, operated by Threema GmbH in Pfaffikon, Switzerland. The consumer app launched in 2012, and the business version adds centralized user and device management for organizations. Threema Work differs from most messaging tools by not requiring a phone number or email to create an account, enabling anonymous use. All messages, calls, and files are end-to-end encrypted, and the company's servers are located exclusively in Switzerland. Over 8,000 organizations use Threema Work, including Mercedes-Benz, Bosch, the Swiss Federal Administration, and ADAC (the German automobile club). Forrester named it a Leader in the 2024 Wave for Secure Communications. Pricing starts at 3 euros per user per month for the Core plan (up to 200 licenses) and 5 euros for the Professional plan with unlimited licenses. A 30-day free trial is available for up to 30 users. A fully self-hosted option called Threema OnPrem serves organizations that need complete infrastructure control. Threema Broadcast allows one-to-many messaging for company-wide announcements. Ownership changed in 2025 from Munich-based Afinum Management to Frankfurt-based Comitis Capital, keeping the parent under German financial control while Swiss operations continue unchanged. KEY FEATURES: - End-to-end encryption for all messages, voice and video calls, and file transfers - No phone number or email required for user registration - Threema Broadcast for one-to-many company announcements - Administration console for centralized user and device management - Threema OnPrem for fully self-hosted deployment
