STACKIT is the cloud platform of Schwarz Group, the world's fourth-largest retailer and parent of Lidl and Kaufland. Originally built to serve the group's internal IT needs, STACKIT opened to external customers in 2022. All data centers are group-owned: four operational facilities in Germany (Neckarsulm, Ellhofen) and Austria (Ostermiething), with a fifth under construction in Lubbenau, Germany. Two cloud regions each offer three availability zones. The platform provides compute instances on Intel, AMD, and ARM processors, block and object storage, managed Kubernetes (SKE), Cloud Foundry, and a broad managed database lineup including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, Redis, and OpenSearch. A standout differentiator is confidential computing: STACKIT offers Confidential Servers and Confidential Kubernetes for workloads requiring hardware-level encryption. GPU offerings include NVIDIA A100, L40S, and H100 HGX (up to 8 GPUs per instance). STACKIT holds BSI C5 Type 2, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 certifications. It participates in Gaia-X and is rated a Rising Star by ISG for multi-public-cloud services in Germany. The platform is proven at the scale of Schwarz Group's global retail operations. The smallest compute instance starts from approximately €2.19 per month.
