Product overview
Exoscale is a European cloud platform operated by Akenes SA, a Swiss company that became part of A1 Telekom Austria Group in 2017. The service runs eight data centers across Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva), Germany (Frankfurt, Munich), and Austria (Vienna), with expansion into Bulgaria and Croatia. The database-as-a-service portfolio, powered by Aiven technology, covers MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, Valkey, OpenSearch, Grafana, and Thanos for long-term Prometheus metrics storage. Plans range from Hobbyist (single-node, from approximately β¬42 per month) through Startup, Business, and Premium tiers with increasing redundancy and backup retention. All database instances run on dedicated hardware. S3-compatible object storage (Simple Object Storage) is priced at approximately β¬20 per TB per month with three-way replication, object versioning, locking, and server-side encryption. Compute instances span five families: Standard, CPU Optimized, Memory Optimized, Storage Optimized, and GPU (NVIDIA A30, V100, A40, A5000, RTX 6000 PRO). All resources are billed per second with flat rates across all zones. Scalable Kubernetes Service (SKS) is CNCF-certified with a 99.95% SLA. Exoscale holds ISO 27001, SOC 2, BSI C5, ISO 27018, and CSA certifications. All data is stored in-country of the selected zone under European data protection frameworks.
